The Fall Guys

"President Obama's inner circle will likely be losing some key players. CBS News senior White House correspondent Bill Plante reports that sources say David Axelrod, the president's closest advisor, will move to Chicago next spring. Axelrod is expected to reassume his role as campaign manager in Mr. Obama's 2012 reelection bid. A potential, if not likely, replacement for Axelrod is current White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs. The dominoes don't stop there. Rahm Emanuel, the president's Chief of Staff, may leave the White House as soon as next month."

"It was only a matter of time for the rats to start jumping off of the ship. It only makes sense for the budget director to leap first. Geitner and Rahm-bo will be next."

"The next four years will be very challenging on all fronts. As I've stated before, the economic cycle is must stronger than a political party or individual politicians. The psychology of the masses will drive the direction. I believe that the Democrats will be navigating the ship through major rogue waves. At the end of that process, the party will be in shambles. At that point, the masses will be disenchanted with both parties. At 'the bottom', there will be a third party that finally gains some steam and becomes a viable competitor. That party will probably be somewhere in the middle"

Rats Fleeing The Ship

Another rat has fled the ship.
"Christina Romer, chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, has resigned her post to return to her old job as an economics professor at the University of California at Berkeley, the White House said Thursday."

The First Rat Jumps Off The Ship

It was only a matter of time for the rats to start jumping off of the ship.  It only makes sense for the budget director to leap first.  Geitner and Rahm-bo will be next.

"Peter Orszag, White House budget director, yesterday became the first high-profile official to step down from office in Barack Obama's administration.  Mr Orszag, 41, whom the US president dubbed a "propeller-head" in reference to his geeky character, helped shepherd through last year's $787bn fiscal stimulus and played a vital role in negotiating the almost $1,000bn healthcare bill that was passed in March."

Holy Sh*t Obama-man

In my January post, OMG, I stated that I envisioned that the first security briefing with President Obama would be an interesting and enlightening one. On the plane ride home from the Rockies on Saturday I was reading Time magazine and there was an interesting article relating to this. An excerpt:

"On the Friday after he was inaugurated, Barack Obama held a full-scale National Security Council meeting about the most serious foreign policy crisis he is facing — the deteriorating war in Afghanistan and Pakistan. "It was a pretty alarming meeting," said one senior Administration official. "The President was extremely cool and in control," said another participant. "But some people, especially political aides like Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod who hadn't been briefed on the situation, walked out of that meeting stunned." The general feeling was expressed by one person who said at the very end, 'Holy s___.' "

"The situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan has only gotten worse since then. Both countries are suddenly boggled by constitutional crises; both Presidents — Hamid Karzai and Asif Ali Zardari — lead governments teetering on the edge of chaos. And the war is going badly on both sides of the border."
