A sad, tragic day for the country. A lunatic swept up in the cycle decides to make a statement. It appears that this 22 year old had issues with non-perfect English speaking people and the government. Sorry Fox news, but once again, this guy doesn't appear to be a Muslim. Another white, homegrown American. Angry at 22 years old.
I thought that these comments by the Arizona sheriff were right on the mark:
"When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous. Let me just say one thing, because people tend to poo-poo this business about all the vitriol that we hear inflaming the American public by people who make a living off of doing that. That may be free speech. But it's not without consequences."
Yes, we will see consequences.

"The mob is angrier than ever. The angry white American bible carrying man hasn't made his statement yet."

Well, like the lunatic in Austin last year, he's white and angry, but he left his bible home.

"The mob is angrier than ever so they'll try to throw out as many incumbents as possible. The Tea Party is still just a light version of what is to come."
Random Roving, November 2, 2010
An interesting point to note is that Giffords barely won the recent election by 4,000 votes over a Tea Party candidate. She is a third term representative.
"The ratings fall is dead on, but a few incumbents survived. Not for long though."

The only valid point that this criminal might have made on his web postings is that our currency needs to be backed by gold.
Stayed tuned. More craziness to come.

Election Day Thoughts
This might be the most interesting election since 2008. It will be the most interesting mid-term election in some time. The mob will ascend on the voting booths in record numbers I think. I voted early last week to avoid the frenzy. As I stood in front of the voting machine I thought, "do I just vote Libertarian with one quick click or click it one by one?". I still claim to not belong to any party, but my presidential vote for Ron Paul in 2008 still looks like the best one. So I kept my direction consistent.
As I predicted for 2008, "change" will be the main theme. Not the "change" that political posters speak to, but change of the people in power. The mob is angrier than ever so they'll try to throw out as many incumbents as possible. The Tea Party is still just a light version of what is to come. It's almost comical at this stage. The funny part is that the Republicans will "pound their chest" in victory only to be ousted the next time. It will be a viscious cycle for some time.
Doesn't the fact below indicate that something is seriously wrong with our system? $140 million?? Just think what some charities could do with $140 million?
"Republican Meg Whitman has spent more than $140 million so far on her campaign for California governor, nearly $40 million of it during the last three months, she reported Tuesday. The amount the billionaire former eBay chief executive has spent on advertising and political consultants, most of it from her personal fortune, stands in sharp contrast to Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown, who reported Tuesday that he has spent $10.7 million this year, nearly all of it since Labor Day."

Ferrell On The Future
Paul Farrell provides this bleak forecast:
"Yes, big warning, the Second American Revolution will extract painful austerity, not the “happy days are here again” future touted by tea-baggers. For years it’ll be impossible for most of America’s 95 million investors to develop a successful investment or logical retirement strategy. Why? Political chaos will translate into extreme volatility and a highly unpredictable stock market. Result: Wall Street will lose another 20% of the value of your retirement portfolio in the next decade, just as Wall Street did the last decade. So if you think you’re “mad as hell” now, “you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet!”
Here’s the timeline:
Stage 1: The Dems just put the nail in their coffin by confirming they are wimps, refusing to force the GOP to filibuster the Bush tax cuts for America’s richest.
Stage 2: The GOP takes over the House, expanding its war to destroy Obama with its new policy of “complete gridlock,” even “shutting down government.”
Stage 3: Obama goes lame-duck.
Stage 4: The GOP wins back the White House and Senate in 2012. Health care returns to insurers. Free market financial deregulation returns.
Stage 5: Under the new president, Wall Street’s insatiable greed triggers the catastrophic third meltdown of the 21st century Shiller predicted, with defaults on dollar-denominated debt.
Stage 6: The Second American Revolution explodes into a brutal full-scale class war rebelling against the out-of-touch, out-of-control greedy conspiracy-of-the-rich now running America.
Stage 7: Domestic class warfare is compounded by Pentagon’s prediction that by 2020 'an ancient pattern of desperate, all-out wars over food, water, and energy supplies would emerge' worldwide and 'warfare is defining human life.'"

The Fall Guys
"President Obama's inner circle will likely be losing some key players. CBS News senior White House correspondent Bill Plante reports that sources say David Axelrod, the president's closest advisor, will move to Chicago next spring. Axelrod is expected to reassume his role as campaign manager in Mr. Obama's 2012 reelection bid. A potential, if not likely, replacement for Axelrod is current White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs. The dominoes don't stop there. Rahm Emanuel, the president's Chief of Staff, may leave the White House as soon as next month."

"It was only a matter of time for the rats to start jumping off of the ship. It only makes sense for the budget director to leap first. Geitner and Rahm-bo will be next."
Random Roving, June 30, 2010
"The next four years will be very challenging on all fronts. As I've stated before, the economic cycle is must stronger than a political party or individual politicians. The psychology of the masses will drive the direction. I believe that the Democrats will be navigating the ship through major rogue waves. At the end of that process, the party will be in shambles. At that point, the masses will be disenchanted with both parties. At 'the bottom', there will be a third party that finally gains some steam and becomes a viable competitor. That party will probably be somewhere in the middle"

Opa - Part 3
The Greeks continue rioting. As I've said before, the Tea Parties are a bunch of "white button downs" holding posters. My "favorite Republican" took his 10 year old son out of school to attend one. I told him that when the real protests arrive, you won't be taking the family. Stay tuned.
"In the U.S., the Tea Parties mentioned above were rather like, well, tea parties. In France, the demonstrations are large, but the tone is not yet violent. According to Time Magazine, millions marched in that country bu the disruption was a "comparatively modest nuisance.' In London, the "Financial Fools Day' protest against the G-20 was much larger and more focused than the April 2000 demonstration agains the IMF. And this time things turned ugly fast: 'At first, jazz bands, jugglers and drummers lent a carnival atmosphere to the gathering, but within an hour, anger at the collapse of the financial system turned to violence.' But the protest is a long way from the violent bear market finale that Elliott Wave Financial Forecast was referring to in 2000. At this point, the movement is just 'a vague attack on consumerism, coupled with anti-capitalist rhetoric,' which Daniel Finkelstein of the London Times points out is ' a total dead end,' revolution-wise. When the bottom is at hand or already in place, the rage will be greater and more widespreead, and there will be no question what the rebellion is about."

Corralling The Movement
"Dissent and peaceful protest are portrayed as dangerous to society. Voicing your opinion is depicted as anti-American by the liberal MSM. On the other side, the Fox News neo-cons led by Ann Coulter and Sarah Palin, are trying to corral the movement for their purposes. This is what the entrenched ruling elite do. The fat cats from both parties want to derail the Tea Party movement. Smaller government is not a goal of Democrats or Republicans."

Eating Ice Cream In The Forest
Boy, the angry mob just got more angry this week. "Obamacare" set off the latest fireworks. As our VP said, "This is a big f**king deal!". Way to go Joe.
To state once again, being non-partisan, one can analyze a situation with a non-biased and unemotional perspective. The emotions are riding high these days. My email box is "on fire" the past few days with emails about Hitler, the collapsing US empire, and some cute little tales about kids running for office by promising ice cream.
So my question is, "does anyone think for themselves anymore?". All I hear from friends, associates, strangers, and the yahoos on TV is regurgitated political garbage. Does anyone actually research anything and form their own opinion? I can tell you exactly what a Republican or Democrat will say today. I'm not sure if "sheeple" or "zombies" is the best analogy.
As predicted on election day, President Obama will be the fall guy. A 28 year cycle has come to an end and someone has to hold the "hot potato". The fear is just amazing. Can you imagine if Obama passed the Patriot Act??? Wow. The Hitler emails would be ten fold.
Dubya was smart. He created the great "boogeyman" to scare the sheeple before he passed the Patriot Act and invaded the richest oil region in the world. Herding mammals "come together" when in fear. Once tightly together, selling these initiatives was easy. Most don't even know what the Patriot Act is or allows because they were hiding from the boogeyman when it quickly passed through our governing bodies.
Why didn't anyone protest that Dubya created the least jobs per year than any president in the last 11 presidents?
http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2009/01/09/bush-on-jobs-the-worst-track-record-on-record/tab/article/
Over Bush's two terms, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 28%! Over eight years, you not only didn't grow your retirement account, but you lost over a quarter of it. So, again I ask, "where was the tea party?".
When Bush left office, the US had $55,000,000,000,000 of unfunded liabilities! That's 55 trillion! He left us with record debt. Where was the tea party? You might want to make the 32.5 minute investment again:
http://randomroving.blogspot.com/2009/02/325-minute-investment.html
Passing legislation for healthcare is a little more challenging. How do you create a "healthcare boogeyman". The "haves" already have coverage, so they risk losing something. Obama didn't take my advice to complete some short passes first!
Where is the Wall Street boogeyman? There has not been one change in the SEC rules since the meltdown. Amazing isn't it? Where are the teaparty protestors? I guess that they were not Madoff or Stanford victims. Why doesn't Sean, Ann, Glenn, and Bill throw a tea party asking for changes in the SEC? You don't want to know the answer to that one.
Well folks, stay calm and realize that there's more to come. Keep "the cycle model" in mind when you watch the news at night. If you know the "hurricane is coming", you won't be surprised and panic. It's time to distinguish the "forest from the trees".

A Summary of the Tea Parties
I was surprised to received an email Tuesday evening inviting me to a tea party in my neighborhood. It was planned to occur at a local park. My understanding is that the parties were planned to protest taxes and the bailout. T.E.A. stands for "taxed enough already". A brief viewing on TV last night of these nation-wide events to me appeared to be hundreds of Team Red members that are still grieving over their election loss. Maybe they should have been SGR Parties....Sour Grapes Republicans.
If you've read my posts in the past, you know that I'm very opposed to any bailouts. If your company took too much risk, than it must suffer the consequences. I believe that the statement "it is too big to fail" is ludicrous. No company is too big to fail. No country is too big to fail. If you owe $100, but have $50, than you're broke. If you have $30,000,000, but owe $60,000,000, then you are broke. No difference. I've made the dying patient analogy already. Contraction is inevitable, but don't drag it out. Let it occur naturally. The massive bailout will now mimic the great Japanese contraction (1990 to present).
I do find it very perplexing that Team Red is now protesting spending. Where were they during the entire Iraq affair? Is spending billions on the imperialistic invasion of a country okay? Why didn't they have tea parties than? If they are opposed to government intervention and liberty, than where were these patriots during the approval of the Patriot Act? Someone please answer these questions for me.
I wrote a big check to the IRS yesterday....very painful. I'm sure many others did to. I consider it my American obligation. It's not patriotic, it's a requirement (some do debate this). I've also stated prior that Buffet's perspective on taxes is a fair one. If you want to feel real tax pain, move to Norway. Why is Team Red protesting taxes now? Why didn't they protest taxes during the Bush administration? The reality is that if McCain won, he would be raising taxes too. How else are we going to pay for all of our obligations that EXISTED PRIOR TO OBAMA?
I constantly recommend to my favorite Republican that we should all "fly our helicopters" above all of this political chatter and focus on the facts, the data. Despite this recent massive spending spree, we already had major debt obligations. Our children and grandchildren were ALREADY burdened with this, so if tax burden is your issue, I would have expected you to be throwing tea parties a long time ago. Our massive debt is NOT a new issue or fact. Increased taxes is a reality no matter what team you cheer for. Team Red must recall that The Gipper was one of the biggest spenders of all time.
